The trees are up at the park!  See the nearly 70 hand-decorated plywood trees, shining with hometown pride. Crafted by local clubs, organizations, and businesses, filling Riverside Park with creativity and joy.  Stop by day or night (or both!) to enjoy the trees.

Lighting of the Park had a great turnout on November 29th!  Thank you to all who came and all who contributed!
Come together with neighbors and friends to celebrate the magic of the season and see Riverside Park sparkle like never before.
Planned events induce:
  • Special visit from Mr. & Mrs. Claus
  • Cozy campfire & free s'mores
  • Entertainment, including a performance by Christine's Center Stage Dance Studio, community carolers, and local teen band Free Puppies
  • Treats & Good Cheer for all ages
  • Free crafts led by Blackhawk 4H
  • Soda Haven truck with dirty sodas and walking tacos for sale
  • Gravity Box Brewing Company with drinks and snacks for sale
  • Drop off donations for the food pantry

How it started:

This holiday season, the Greater Mauston Tourism Association (GMTA),  invites YOU to help us “Spruce Up Mauston" by decorating a plywood tree for Riverside Park and spreading holiday cheer throughout our community!

We’re launching a brand-new fundraiser: decorated holiday tree cutouts displayed in Riverside Park all season long. Clubs, organizations, businesses, families, and individuals can sponsor and decorate a tree to showcase their holiday spirit.  Funds will support yearly improvements to Mauston’s holiday lights around town.

Pick up a tree at Riverside Park (near the Music Pavilion) on October 11th between 10am and Noon.

Payments are due when you pick up the tree.  We accept cash or checks.  Make check payable to GMTA.  Please note your organization's name with the payment if it is not printed on the check.  The cost of a tree is  $150 for Businesses and for-profit organizations or $50 for Community, youth or school group / non-profit / church/individuals.

Decorate your tree. 

  • Your tree will be a raw plywood tree, approximately 4' tall x 3' wide, with holes in the center for mounting it to the posts that will be at the park.
  • You must paint the tree with a base coat of outdoor paint on all sides: front, back, edges, and don't forget the bottom.
  • Decorate it any way you like; paint, ornaments, reflective paint, solar or battery-powered lights. 
  • Do not block the mounting holes. They must be accessible for the tools we need to secure and remove the tree.
  • There is no electricity available at the park.  Do not include typical plug-in Christmas lights.
  • Please paint decorations with weather-resistant paint.  Secure decorations to withstand the weather: heat changes, sun, wind, and snow.
  • The Golden Spruce award is up for grabs and will be voted on on the Mauston Explorer App.
  • If you are concerned about your decorations during off-season storage, you may pick up your decorations (date and time TBD)
 
Drop off your tree on November 1st between 10 am and Noon at Riverside Park.  It will be mounted to a pole in the park for all to see!

  • 10/8/25 Preregistration (this form) is due to guarantee a tree at pick up
  • 10/11/25  Pick up at Riverside Park near the Music Pavilion from 10am- Noon
  • 11/1/25  Bring your finished tree to Riverside Park to have it “planted from 10 am - Noon
  • Trees will be taken down and we will store them, you may pick up your decorations if desired. Date and time TBD.
